On July 17, the Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing and Beijing Jingxi Zhigu Technology Co., Ltd., jointly established the “Joint Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Meteorological Application Research” at the Zhongguancun Mentougou Science Park. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hao Liping, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Beijing Meteorological Service; Deputy Director Ji Chongping; First-Class Inspector Wang Yuebing; Secretary of the Mentougou District Committee Yu Huafeng; and Deputy Director Chen Mingxuan from the Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing.

At the ceremony, the Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing and Jingxi Zhigu signed a cooperation agreement, with Hao Liping and Yu Huafeng jointly unveiling the joint laboratory. As an innovative and efficient research platform, the joint laboratory aims to integrate innovative elements such as personnel, funds, equipment, information, and knowledge reserves from both parties. It will delve deeper into the research and development of artificial intelligence forecasting models and intelligent service models applicable to public meteorological services, disaster prevention and mitigation, as well as energy, health, transportation, and finance sectors, launching “AI+” scenario services.

In her speech, Hao Liping highlighted that the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement in May this year between both parties aimed to jointly advance the application research and development of artificial intelligence in meteorology and the implementation of scientific and technological achievements in Mentougou. The unveiling of the joint laboratory marks a further step in promoting joint research and development of artificial intelligence applications, signifying a deeper collaboration between the two parties. With an open-minded approach, pragmatic style, and closer collaboration, both parties will continue to deepen their cooperation. It is believed that in the near future, the joint laboratory will provide strong technological support for enhancing meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities, inject new vitality into the construction of resilient and safe cities, and improve public meteorological service levels, thereby empowering the green and high-quality transformation and development of Mentougou District.
