From December 5 to 7, a team of 4 from the Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing, under the leadership of their Assistant Dean Chen Min joined “2023 National Meteorological Technology Workshop in Hangzhou and Wind/Solar Power Generation Refinement Service Demonstration Program (SDP) Seminar” held by Chinese Meteorological Society. As a leader of the Institute of Urban Meteorology, a team with distinction of SDP competition, Assistant Dean Chen Min made a report entitled A Brief Introduction to Participation in RMAPS-wind forecasting system and SDP, presenting wind-solar power based weather forecast system, station weather forecast, short-impending forecasting methods, situations of their participation in SDP. In this way, we learned about the strength of the Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing in providing wind-solar power based weather forecasting service.

At the same time, participants from the Institute of Urban Meteorology also listened to a report on meteorological service demands of new energy made by some new energy companies such as China Huaneng Group and Goldwind Service, a final report on the SDP competition made by its organizer, and wind-solar power based weather forecast technology presentations by other outstanding participating teams. In addition to mastering current meteorological forecast service demands in the field of new energy, we also learned relevant techniques and methods from other participating teams. This may assist the Institute of Urban Meteorology in further improving weather forecast techniques for new energy.
