On August 9-12, 2023, the 7th Regional Climate Change Monitoring and Detection Symposium was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. Researchers Zhang Guwei, Xu Zhiqi, and Yang Jiaxi from IUM attended the conference with some reports delivered.
Dr. Zhang Guwei delivered a speech entitled Avoidable heat-related mortality in China during the 21st Century, who quantified the number of avoidable heat-related mortality through emission reduction in the introduction of the latest assessment results of future heat-related health risks in China. Dr. Xu Zhiqi presented the analysis of planetary boundary layer height based on high-resolution sounding data in different regions of China and the assessment results of three mainstream reanalysis products in an oral report entitled Regionalization of the summer planetary boundary layer height in comparison with variable reanalysis datasets over China. Dr. Yang Jiaxi gave a speech entitled Constrained high-resolution project of hot extremes in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region of China, who believed that temperature estimation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region under observation constraints is more reliable after selecting climate models suitable for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region with the constraint of the CMIP6 high-resolution climate model based on observation data.
